Goodbye Bafana

1. In general, what did you like and dislike about the film?
I really like the film, is an emotional story, the characters have strong personalities, but but it is clear that they are also human, therefore, they are able to react naturally to events, even considering the cultural environment in which they are, the characters are not treated with flat personalities, but they are learning to throughout the movie and grow as human beings. The two most important lines of action within the film are two: Friendship and language, are usually a little secondary elements in any film, but here are the basis of the story, friendship is beautifully retracted, as a force that it remains in the memory and that it is inherent to the human being, like the language, both are a unifying force, that if they are applied, they will be bridges for the understanding.
2. Who was the character you liked the most and the character you liked the least in the film? Why?
I think the most interesting character is Mandela, in my opinion, he has an air of wisdom, strength, he looks much more like a leader, but he also maintains that mythical air with which history looks at Mandela and with which he magnifies himself. The character that I liked the least was Winnie, but I think it was because I saw her in the previous movie, then here it appears diminished, completely different, although this would be explainable if we are looking at Gregory's version, perhaps for him the figure of Winnie was simply not relevant.
3. How do the versions of James Gregory, Nelson Mandela, and Winnie Mandela compare between Goodbye Bafana and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom?
Gregory, on Long road to freedom, just appeared as an incidental character, which doesn´t have much relevance, but as I think this film is looking for a whiter look, Gregory is the perfect character to be the main protagonist, in general, it shows that the film tries to tranquilize the most white sensibilities. Mandela is somewhat exaggerated, although I think it is a great approach to what could have been the real figure of Mandela, but I think he is idealized, especially to see the way in which his friends referred to him as "leader". Finally, Winnie appears in totally different way, the film doesn´t seem to have any relevance, although this is not necessarily intentional, perhaps it wasn´t a character who contributed to the development of this story.
i have to be disagree with you cause i don't think that Mandela was the big character that they present us in the first film. I know that this movie isn't about Mandela (or a least not directaly) so i would like that they really do something even bigger with him, but whatever :(
